The Support you Need

Whether you require a place to stay in the Shelter or just want to meet with a counsellor and create a safety plan, Kelowna Women’s Shelter has a program to meet your needs.

Emergency and Transitional Housing
The Kelowna Women’s Shelter is a safe, comfortable and confidential place to stay. We provide food and other essentials, counselling support, and help with transportation and childcare.

Our shelter includes eight comfortable bedrooms, a shared kitchen and living space, and plenty of outdoor space for you and your kids. We also have a children’s playroom, and a fabulous outdoor play area.
Second Stage Housing
Survivors of intimate partner violence often need a longer period of safe, supportive and affordable housing before transitioning into their own homes and a new life free of abuse.

WISH (Women’s Interim Supportive Home) allows women who meet the eligibility criteria, and have stayed at Kelowna Women’s Shelter to live for up to one year in a supportive environment with other women and easy access to our staff and services.

External applications for WISH will not be accepted.
Outreach and Support
Our outreach worker offers free, safe and confidential service for women who have experienced abuse in relationships, at the Kelowna Women’s Shelter or in a safe place in the community.

We also offer drop-in support groups on Wednesday evenings and Thursday afternoons. To find out more or book an appointment with a counsellor, call 250-763-1040.

Inside Out Violence Prevention Program for Youth
Did you know kids and teens who have been abused and/or witnessed abuse are twice as likely to be abused in the future or become abusers themselves? Our Inside/Out Violence Prevention Program for Youth works to stop the cycle of abuse before it continues.

Inside/Out is a community-based, interactive program offered at local schools and through other organizations. It teaches young people about healthy relationships, self-esteem, empathy and the value of positive choices and connections. To learn more or to book Inside/Out for your school, call 250-763-1040.
