The team at Kelowna Women’s Shelter was saddened recently to say “Good- bye” to one of our most tireless and courageous supporters.
Anne Spelliscy, who was bedridden for years due to ALS, was “a warrior to the end” and an inspiration to many.
Until her death, she orchestrated a remarkable annual giving campaign to support women and their children who’d experienced intimate partner violence.
For the past 10 years, along with the support of family, friends, caregivers and local businesses, Anne put together thousands of Live, Love, Laugh toiletry bags for Shelter residents and clients.
“Anne’s commitment to the women and children at Kelowna Women’s Shelter, even in the face of her own challenges, inspired us every day,” says executive director Karen Mason.
“To see the look on the women’s faces when they walked in the door of their room at the Shelter and were welcomed by this beautiful gift was absolutely priceless, and I cannot begin to describe what a difference Anne’s contributions made. She will be so missed by so many.”
Anne Spelliscy died peacefully at home on November 11, 2017.
She is survived by her devoted husband Lorne, adored son Keegan, and countless family and friends in whose lives she made an unforgettable difference.
