HISTORY OF CARING
Since 1980, Kelowna Women’s Shelter has offered a safe place to stay, and essentials such as food, clothing, and toiletries for women who have to flee quickly and don’t have time to prepare. We offer ongoing counselling, support and preventive education programs, all at no cost. Whatever your situation, our counsellors are here to help, 24-hours-a day. We envision a community where everyone treats each other with dignity, respect and compassion. As a non-profit society (Central Okanagan Emergency Shelter Society) we are governed by a volunteer board of directors. The Shelter is a member of the British Columbia Society of Transition Houses, Ending Violence Association of British Columbia, Shelter Net BC, and the Canadian Network of Women’s Shelters and Transition Houses.
